Look what the cat dragged in...

...me!  And I feel like it.

I've been slacking quite a bit the past few weeks; seems like I'm either groggy from sleep deprivation most of the time, or suffering from mega-apathy the rest of the time.

The hoplophobes are going full blast right now; every time I look at the news some statist idiot is babbling and foaming at the mouth about "assault weapons", "high-capacity clips", and "gun show loopholes".  I get tired of people like this; I find they are usually one of two groups: uninformed idiots, or bald-faced liars. They have got the mainstream media as their propaganda corp (the news and entertainment media HATES the Second Amendment) and have managed to brainwash a large part of the population with distorted facts, lack of facts, and downright lies.

They keep making sounds about "compromise", and "reasonable laws".
Bullshit.
Compromise to these people means that you give them what they want, and get nothing in return.
Reasonable laws mean whatever they think they should mean, not what both sides agree on.
When they talk about closing up private sales, what they are really after is a registration database, which would be necessary for what they want in logging private sales.  The only purpose of registration is so you know who to disarm when the time comes.  If you don't believe that, then ask the people of NYC and California what it means.  Ask many of the countries that were disarmed after they got everyone to register.  Of course it doesn't apply to government heavies or criminals (there is a bit of an overlap there sometimes), but that doesn't really matter to them, since the main purpose of gun control is CONTROL.
Just my opinion.

I notice that the Pope is retiring.  I guess that means something if you're Catholic, but it just doesn't really mean much to me, I'm afraid.

I had to laugh at the photo they had of the POTUS "shooting skeet".  What a joke!  That guy hasn't got a clue how to even hold the gun.  I don't know why they thought they needed to slap together a phony photoshoot, but damn, if you're going to fake something, at least get someone who has a clue to help you pull it off.

Hope your new year is starting out well.

The past couple of months haven't been all that good in this neck of the woods.  My wife and I spent a good part of the first part of it helping take care of her mother, who started to have medical problems.  These slowly got worse until Christmas morning, when she went into hypoglycemic shock (she was diabetic), having a blood sugar of 33.  She was revived and taken to the hospital, but we lost her on Dec 27, and buried her on Jan 31. She was 86, and will be greatly missed by a lot of family, friends, and neighbors.

I'm not a religious person, but this song seemed appropriate:

I hope to get back later when we get more time; my wife is her executor, so things could get a little busy.

To everyone out there, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, whether Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever belief helps to ease and uplift your spirit.
